This weekend I’ve played a good bit of Predator: Hunting Grounds, it’s a good bit of fun however the game seems to wear thin rather quickly.
It’s an interesting concept on multiplayer where it’s either four against one or one against four! A well oiled machine of four marines can easily take down the Predator however a skilled player who has learned how the Predator operates can easily kill the squad of marines.
If you play as one of the marines you have different ways to complete the mission. The first being is the generic mission where you have to infiltrate a drug lords camp, eliminate him or collect intel. There seems to be a few different variations on these missions a marine can do. The second element, which is harder to manage is to kill the Predator, the mission will end there with a successful kill.
If you choose to play with the Predator character I strongly recommend you run the tutorial first. There you will learn the basic fundamentals and controls on how to operate the character. From running through trees, how to hunt with its heat vision to straight up dissembling the enemy.
That’s pretty much it, there is no variation for the Predator. Other than that gameplay, like many other games, you can level up, get access to new gear and equipment to help in your hunting quest.
I am not sure if this game will appeal to everyone, it feels limited in it’s scope and my gut is telling me the user-base will dry up quickly after release.
I actually did a livestream for over an hour with zero people watching! But you can view it on YouTube to see how the game operates.
Here is the trailer of the game released via IGN on YouTube.
I got the game on pre-order hoping for a really good Imperial storyline, but I was very disappointed with the story. It started off well, I liked the Imperial droid and how you had to handle him to get to the main character Iden Versio. From the introduction mission to Endor, I was more or less happy, but as soon as you found out your character went turncoat the story campaign went sour for me.
With a bunch of cameos from the Star Wars legends such as Luke Skywalker to Han Solo. With the Han Solo scene it almost went into RPG mode for a short mission! How I wish they would develop a decent Star Wars PS4 RPG game!
The developers had put some thought in to the first two missions, the rest of the game, well, it feeling disappointing. A lack of cinematic flow, the story-arc fell flat and on its face trying to reveal which they probably shouldn’t have touched. Sometimes it best to keep a game independent of the films.
Into multiplayer, I’d have to say it does handle slightly better than its predecessor and less annoying. With the same features, I wouldn’t say it’s improved that much, the graphics are much improved, the handling feels better. I’ve had some good games and some very bad games. It did feel at times as if I was fighting some people that had spent money on it, even know they removed all of that. Either that or these people have had far too much time on their hands to get all these cool add-ons.
There is lots for the in-game collector to acquire and challenges to complete which should help for the longevity but I will only be giving this game an average score on 3 out of 5.
Right now in the game Destiny on PS4 they are running what they call Festival of the Lost. It’s basically Halloween on Destiny! You run around do a few quests and collect masks! Kinda silly, but fun, for a very short time.
A little while ago I was playing the game Destiny in which I managed to complete the jumping puzzle (climbing the mountain) of Felwinter Peak social space to acquire what they call a dormant siva. I got up pretty high and needed to get back down! It’s a jump and a half! I did it and decided to create a video of the event for YouTube, it’s my first edited movie from a PS4 and it wasn’t surprisingly that hard to create.
I used the iMovie maker on my MacBook, stripped out a lot of unwanted parts of the movie leaving a very short and straight to the point video. If I feel anything fun or funny happens to me in Destiny next time I play I am sure I will try and make another movie. But for now, enjoy.
I waited nearly a whole year for this to arrive simply because the console looks so cool. I wasn’t too interested in the game but I will play Battlefront and give it a review later.
Have been watching the PS4 launch and it feels more about the games rather than the machine. Although the graphics engine does sound impressive and you can take games on the move with different devices such as the PS Vita. There does seem to be a lack of the console.
A few games stand out and one stood out to me which I liked the look of which was Watch Dogs. The game interface looked a lot like that used on Assassin’s Creed and the game setting seemed a lot like the show Person of Interest.
Many of the other games looked impressive, but there didn’t seem much of a fresh feel. Everything felt more about connectivity and making money. Overall I was unimpressed.
