I could be talking about anything!

The Flying Man

If you haven’t seen it, this is a video released on YouTube in 2013 which is a 10 minute short. I was very impressed with the feel of the film the way you have an external view of a super hero. There is a cold unknown, leaving you with questions. A very old-school approach to movie making. And now we have Sony who are going to develope this into a full length feature in 2017. Enjoy.

Bedlem Exhibit at the Wellcome Collection

I’ve just been down to Euston to visit the Wellcome Collection and see their new exhibit titled Bedlam: the asylum and beyond. (till 15th January 2017)

I was expecting something more macabre but instead I found a strange collection of art and what I would say footnotes of the subject. There didn’t seem any depth to the exhibit, instead as you walk around the first installation you see some poor girl’s arm sticking out from underneath. This was followed by some explanation of what they were trying to say however I zoned out and my thoughts didn’t really focus too well on what was there.

A few paintings, prints, art and books. It seemed to be a very small part of the subject matter and a very small collection. All I can remember is that Bedlem derives from Bethlem Royal Hospital, and the name Bethlem from Bethlehem, Israel.

It’s not a subject I’ve ever really been interested in and unless you have interests in the subject matter I wouldn’t recommend a visit.

My first PS4 video on youtube

A little while ago I was playing the game Destiny in which I managed to complete the jumping puzzle (climbing the mountain) of Felwinter Peak social space to acquire what they call a dormant siva. I got up pretty high and needed to get back down! It’s a jump and a half! I did it and decided to create a video of the event for YouTube, it’s my first edited movie from a PS4 and it wasn’t surprisingly that hard to create.

I used the iMovie maker on my MacBook, stripped out a lot of unwanted parts of the movie leaving a very short and straight to the point video. If I feel anything fun or funny happens to me in Destiny next time I play I am sure I will try and make another movie. But for now, enjoy.

Luke Cage Review

You previously had a taste of Luke Cage when he showed up in Jessica Jones but now you get the full on show complete with one liners and puns that any comic-book fan would love.

This time in New York we head over to the Harlem district where the African Americans live, breath and die. You are introduced to this part of the city which feels cleaner and less gritty than Jessica Jones and less dark than Dare Devil. But like the rest of New York it clearly has its problems.

Throughout the course of the series you get elements of Luke Cage back story and it unfolds nicely. Each character seems unique, many are provided a back story also and are certainly not one dimensional. Mahershala Ali who plays cottonmouth was the standout character, the actor portrayed him so well that I felt sorry for him in the end.

Another element to the show is the music, that 70s sleek feel. The way the Jazz evolves around life in Harlem. There is a sense and feel that make a very unique take on life.

The show revolves around the Barber Shop, The Club and the streets. Cage doesn’t want to get involved with anyone until he is pushed beyond his capacity to restrain his desire for revenge after his mentor is kill. At this point Cage feels he has to help those in need, while at the same time creating a path of destruction. Mind you, the destruction didn’t seem that much and Cage wasn’t the main culprit.

Often I felt there wasn’t enough action, there were never enough fight scenes for me. The problem with origin stories is the need to develop a character often takes away the ability to headlong into what the current affairs are. This being said there was a healthy mix of each.

After the political mess, the gangland war and police corruption there is a feeling the show leaves you wondering was that all worth it? Although I enjoyed the show, I was left with questions. What did Cage do in the military? What am I missing? And do I really need to see more of this messed up world?

Suicide Squad review

Very often trailers give away too much information and this is another case. In fact I would have to say that the trailer for Suicide Squad gave away some of the best jokes in the film. It overcooked a film before I even saw the dam thing. So this is why I probably feel a little let down.

After Superman vs Batman you expect darker elements, the gothic, the twisted and the dam right crazy. But by today standards this feels tame in many regards.

After the introduction of each character and hearing a bit about their backstory the film throws you in head first into an urban battle with what looks like more undead! The camera does like Margot Robbie aka Harley Quinn. Is it me or do they keep focusing on her ass. And a very nice one at that.

As for the all the other characters they just seem to fade in and out, leaving only Will Smith playing Deadshot who holds the film and the crew together. The only time you get down to a human level is when they are all in a bar for a break. Was it needed? They didn’t seem to work that hard for it!

So the bad guys are the good guys, the good guys are the evil guys and the really evil guys, well… They seem to have about 10 to 15 minutes of screen time and then they are killed off. I enjoyed parts but felt that they could of done a lot better job with the material they had. The script writers should be put in the facility where the crooks came out of.

Visually the film was impressive, I enjoyed each music track they implemented and they were well placed. I have to give credit to the makeup and costume department these people know what they are doing. Just a shame the direction of the film couldn’t have been better. Jared Leto was a good fit for the Joker, I might of preferred a film base around him. However for what we have I will give the film 2.5 out of 5

Pokemon Go so far

Well I downloaded the real version this time after its release and I am not sure what I am suppose to do with captured Pokemon other than fight with them. Although it has been a bit of a learning curve, I did manage to evolve one bird before the server crash. Even know I just got to level 5 I haven’t got the chance to fight yet.

I must of spotted around 30 people playing in my local area ranging from 5 to 50.

I don’t think there are any death traps around here like you see on the news but I figured out that where you capture a Pokemon you will be able to go back to that same spot and capture from there again.

There doesn’t seem to be any randomisation, in fact it’s using the Ingress overlay, all the hotspots in that are all the same hotspots in Pokemon. Where you capture the little critters seems to be dependant on the XM level in Ingress so you could combine the two games to help you find what you are looking for.

The downside to this will be a very quick death to your phone. Unless you’re that obsessed to run this way or carry a number of mobile phones your enjoyment will be short lived.

It’s even shorter lived when the server keeps crashing.

I am sure in the future when they have fixed the issues, there will be those clubs people will be starting up, Pokemon hunting trips, you could go on horse back but the hounds won’t help!

Well time to go back to charge my phone!

Fake Pokémon Go app tops the Apple charts in the UK.

It seems thousands of people are being duped into a fake version of Pokemon Go simply titled ‘Go Catch Them All’.

Its full of a huge amount of adverts and it’s basically a trap. How many people have downloaded it I don’t know, but over 1,000 people have posted a review, I would times that by 10 to get a true number of downloads.

The app has two screenshots one is a screenshot to one side of what you what you may see when you load the game. But the main screenshot is a copy from the real Pokemon Go and is probably a breach of copyright.

Although it’s free to download from the app store I hate to know how much they charge for the removal of the ads. And that is a huge £7.99 Followed by the referred income by you clicking on the huge amount of ads inbedded Nguyen who made this has probably made a tidy little sum of money by now!

So heed my warning and play safe people. Be patient and wait for the release of the real game.
