War against the ants

For the past month I’ve had ants coming into my home near the front door. They seem to have nested in the smallest of places. Mainly coming through the gap between the floor and the wall, this small little gap appears to be their home.

It first looked like bits of brick dust, masonry being pulled out from underneath.

So the war begins! I have the granular stuff already brought from past years. That powder stuff is horrible, messy and doesn’t work well in my opinion and feel that it should be banned because it is so useless.

So I spread around Ant Stop! granules, maybe my pack is a bit old now, didn’t seem to be effective as it normally is. So on to the ant traps, boy how these fellas crawl out and die!

With granules you can hoover them up along with the ants while i like to say, die you little bustards die!!

Meeting Shae Sterling and Alien Addiction review.

When I was in Los Angeles in March I was with my brother at a café in Abbot Kinney Blvd, as soon as we had finished we came out and started speaking to two people who just turned up there in a taxi.

One was a girl who was a video blogger from New Zealand, the other was a film director also from New Zealand. This director went by the name of Shae Sterling and said in a few months that his film Alien Addiction would be showing at the London film festival at the Prince Charles Cinema in London.

Well, sometime later! When I was back home in London I got myself a ticket online to go see the film.

It was an interesting film, it started off very B movie with the introduction of the main character and his friends mouthing rather crass humour. The intro also supplied overhead drone video capture of a quite scenic peaceful part of the world.

For me the film didn’t really start until the introduction of the aliens as they crash land to Earth. Enter two aliens rather reminiscent of the film Coneheads with Dan Aykroyd. They came with some device that could convert objects to a smokable substance. It got even weirder when the aliens started to convert shit, smoking it and getting high. I couldn’t quite get my mind around this trip, but it did make me laugh.

The next part of the film was an investigative reporter obsessed with alien hunting. He and his companion find and try to capture the aliens, but his already failing reputation takes a hit. No need to say anymore, you will have to watch the movie if you want to know the ending which has a bit of a twist.

After the movie finished there was a Q&A then I went over to say hello Shae Sterling remembered me and gave me a big bear hug.

Staying at the Bellagio

Last week we arrived at the Bellagio, after checking in a bit of gambling we then ate at 12 midnight local time. I don’t think I had much sleep in the next four days. We went to different hotel casinos ate in Hakkasan restaurant, STK steak house and the restaurants in the Bellagio.

My worse meal has to be in Hakkasan, a Chinese fusion food restaurant, didn’t really think it was all that. My favourite meal was in Spiro in the Bellagio, where we had an amazing view the of fountain.

I played some Top Golf at a very trendy golf range and pretty much had a good time. Walked through Caesars Palace shopping mall went into the Apple store there and brought myself a new Apple iWatch.

Visited some of the original old part of town. That had a more grimy feel, money lasts longer in the casinos down there.

I even tried my hands at a poker tournament in the poker room at the Bellagio. Now that was a deep end experience! Felt like everyone but myself were professional players.

I wasn’t so great on blackjack, roulette I won a load and lost it all. The three card poker tables, you seem to have higher odds to win and if you play on a full table of people the odds also become stacked against the dealer meaning everyone can win a lot more, unlike blackjack you’re only playing with one desk.

My only qualm was the cigarette-cigar smoke. Got in all my clothes, but other than that, had an awesome time.

Installing a sound bar!

I just brought an LG SK1 sound bar for my LG TV and when it arrived it didn’t come with an optical lead! Surely when the only two options are Bluetooth with newer TVs and optical for the slightly older ones like I have you would of thought they would of supplied you with an optical lead.

So out I went to John Lewis to buy one. I got back and connected it up! Or so I thought I had done it all properly. I couldn’t work out what I was doing wrong so I phoned up LG customer support and went through all the options on the phone with him.

Nothing was working, he asked his boss and the reply was… have you taken the caps off the lead!!

OMG! I did not know there were two tiny caps on the end of the lead, nothing was written on the box nor was there any leaflet in the box for the lead telling me there were any caps on the ends to be removed.. For all the technical problems I thought I was having it’s down to… simple not taking all the packaging off!

I had to turn off the built in speakers on the TV, but at least I got better sound quality for watching movies and such.

Dreaming of being stabbed

I just woke up from a bit of a nightmare! From what I remember of my dream is I saw this guy get into a car and had a knife with him and I was going to report it to the police. But the car came back round as I had my mobile out and this guy got out,

It felt so real, so scary the guy had a knife against me, after what seemed a lifetime I work up scared to return to sleep.

I don’t know where this dream came from, was it the news? Reporting every knife crime that has happened in London or something deeper? Hopefully this horrible feeling in my gut will pass…

StarLifter music from an old computer game.

Years ago, I mean a very very long time ago when I was young we had a Commodore 64 and I had many favorite games, certain musics stood out for me, but there was one game called Star Lifter and I always loved the bit style music, I always thought it could be updated to a rock track.

I just found this track on YouTube and it brings back so many memories. I just thought I’d share, please enjoy.

I said to this guy “Are you still playing Pokemon Go?”

I walked down to the shop to get some junk food and this guy was in front of me, then behind me as I passed him. I stopped to contemplate maybe getting some KFC chicken from a small local chippy then decided against it.
Then the guy was in front of me again.

I said out loud “Are you still playing Pokemon Go!”

This Asian guy who had two mobile phones with the app running on both. I must of scared the shit out of him, he jump up and back, skipped sideways looked at me and just ran away!

I didn’t think I was that scarey but it made me laugh hard!

Bird in the Chimney

I went to watch the football at Wembley on Sunday (Spurs vs Chelsea) only to be disappointed, when I got home there was a massive mess in my fireplace, so I went and cleared it up. Straight after I had done that more mess came down so I just left it and had dinner.

I slept okay, wasn’t really disturbed, Monday came, a load more mess, so I phoned the RSPCA only to get an automated response. Told me to clear my room, turn off the gas and do it all myself!

Tuesday came, I decided to stay home and sort it out, I pulled out the heavy cast-iron Edwardian or Victorian fireplace, not sure on that part. A load of mess came out, I had all my windows in the front room open after sitting for around 10 minutes low and behold what looked like a Crow popped down into the fireplace, poor distressed bird wasn’t sure of himself and went straight for the window. I captured a bit of him on my iPhone I can only wish the fella gets better.

I did cleanup the mess before I wrote this.

Bye Bye Twitter

I really got sick of it in the end, I had the app on the my phone, was following a few Spurs footballers like Harry Kane and Dele Alli. I was even following the Met Office for the weather and a few other things, but in the end my phone was just going ping with stuff I really didn’t care about.

I was thinking of following Trump, but I really didn’t want to add him to my followers, maybe if everyone stopped following Trump then he would stop using twitter!

Still, here is a song that sums it up.

R.I.P Chester

I have three albums at home and on my iPod, Hybrid Thoery, Meteora and Minutes to Midnight.

To me this is some of the best music produced by Linkin Park and Chester Bennington. These albums are played more than most of the other stuff I have on my iPod but the music is that good.

I saw Linkin Park live at Knebworth House Sonisphere festival in August 2009, this was a real highlight then and now. I was fairly far away and I wish I could of been closer to the stage, even still I thought they were awesome. On the same night my friend Mark got so pissed and passed out in his tent and was upset he missed them as he really wanted to see them also. His own fault really!

Chester I have no idea what drove you off the cliff, but I hope you find peace in the next life.
